President Luis Arce Catacora who took office, on December 29, has appointed new military top brass – reversing appointment round executed a month and a half ago. the reasons for its surprise change have not been disclosed.
The new Military High Command has been formed as follows: commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, Air Brigade General César Moisés Vallejos Rocha; chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General (Army) Augusto Antonio García Lara; general commander of the Army, Brigadier General Miguel Angel del Castillo Quiroga; General Commander of the Air Force, Air Brigade General Marcelo Juan Heredia Cuba, and General Commander of the Navy, Rear Admiral Franz Pablo Baldivieso Oña.
It should be pointed out that President Arce assumed the presidency of the Andean country, on November 8, 2020, after winning the presidential elections held on the previous October 18, after a process of political transition that began in November 2019 , after the events that led to the resignation of then-President Evo Morales.
